Dr David Simpson

Dr David Simpson has spent many years training in skin cancer medicine and surgery, and enjoys diagnosing and treating both skin cancer and common dermatological conditions. He regularly performs complex skin excisions including skin flaps and skin grafts on all areas including the face, nose, ears and lower legs.

 

During his Master’s degree, Dr Simpson became increasingly interested in Photodynamic Therapy, which can be used for pre-cancerous and thin cancerous lesions. The protocols he has developed are all based on the latest scientific research and produce superior results.

Dr Simpson trained at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School and spent several years training in hospitals in both the UK and Australia. He initially came to work in Australia in 1992, at Nambour General Hospital. He later returned to the UK where he served three years as a Surgeon Lieutenant in the Royal Navy.

After completing his GP vocational training in Cornwall, Dr Simpson was awarded the GP Registrars’ Prize.

On returning to Australia in 2004, Dr Simpson commenced skin cancer GP training, and this culminated in the Master of Medicine degree during which time he was awarded the Dean’s Special Commendation for Academic Excellence.

Dr Simpson now acts as a senior lecturer and teaching assistant for Prof Cliff Rosendahl on the Master’s program at the University of Queensland.

Dr Simpson frequently attends training events and conferences and is a longstanding active member of the Skin Cancer College of Australasia, and International Dermoscopy Society.

He has attended training events including skin cancer surgical masterclasses at the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in Melbourne, and various certificate courses with Healthcert and the Skin Cancer Society. He has worked with the dermatology and plastic surgery teams at Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

To complement his skin cancer work, Dr Simpson has trained with Allergan and Galderma in anti-wrinkle injectables and has completed advanced Dermapen™ Masterclass training and ASSET Chemical Peels training.

 

Allison Simpson

Allison is a registered nurse who completed her training at Westminster hospital in London.

She is also a midwifery graduate from the University of Surrey.

Allison has a passion for improving skin and has completed a post graduate Diploma of Cosmetic Nursing from the Australian Academy of Cosmetic Dermal Science.

She performs skin rejuvenation treatments including; anti-wrinkle injections, skin peels, microdermabrasion and skin needling.

She is fully laser licensed and endorsed by Queensland health to perform laser and IPL treatments for skin rejuvenation and pigmentation.

Allison also performs Photo Dynamic Therapy and other non-surgical treatments for sun damage and skin cancer under the supervision of Dr Simpson.

Dr Martelle Coetzer-Botha

Martelle grew up in South Africa and obtained her medical degree from the University of Stellenbosch. She worked in a few different countries before moving to Australia with her family in 2007.

Since then, she has done ongoing studying and training as a General Practitioner in the field of skin cancer as well as dermatology and injectable cosmetic treatments.

Martelle is an assistant course co-ordinator on the Skin Cancer Master’s program at the University of Queensland.

In her spare time, she enjoys playing tennis and running and tries to run at least one marathon a year. In the past, she has played College Tennis in the USA and run many marathons and ultra-marathons.

 

 

Dr Maria Higgins

Marie grew up in Ireland and obtained her medical degree from University College, Dublin.

She spent several years training in hospitals and general practices in Ireland before moving to Australia in 2005.

Having always had a keen interest in dermatology and skin cancer, Marie started doing skin cancer work in 2006. She has performed skin checks and treated skin cancers for over 15 years.

When not at work Marie spends time with her daughter enjoying all that the Sunshine Coast has to offer.
