Medical Grade Peels

Speak to our skin nurse today about our medical grade peels.

A chemical peel is a method of resurfacing and regenerating the skin. Please make an appointment to speak to our skin care nurse, Allison, about the benefits of medical grade peels. Allison has a Graduate Diploma in Cosmetic Nursing and is available to discuss all your skin care concerns.

Skin peels.

On a cellular level, skin peels lead to:

  • A thickening of the epidermis due to the even removal of the stratum corneum that stimulates epidermal growth

  •
The removal of damaged or abnormal cells to replace them will healthy, more organised cells

  • An induction of an inflammatory reaction deeper in the skin stimulates the synthesis of new collagen in the dermis

Do peels thin the skin?

  • Peels only thin the stratum corneum (it becomes more compact and organised allowing better light reflection)

  • Peels actually thicken the epidermis due to an increase in epidermal cells

  • Peel also thicken the dermis due to an increase in extracellular fibres

Types of Peels.

Medical Grade Peels.

These are prescription-only superficial peels that safely regenerate and resurface the skin improving skin texture, sun damage pigmentation and uneven skin tone.

Jessner’s Peel.

Jessner’s peels are ideal for oily and acne-prone skin, sun damage and pigmentation. This peel will visually retexture thickened or oily skin, improve the appearance of enlarged pores, pigmentation and exfoliate the skin’s upper layer.

TCA Peel.

One of the original skin rejuvenation peels, TCA (tri-chloroacetic acid) is used to resurface sun damaged, aged skins. The peel depth is dependent on skin type, skin condition and desired outcome.

TCA peels are beneficial for mature sun-damaged skin, help minimise pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles.

Prior to a skin peel, you will have a skin consultation with the nurse. Most peels require the skin to be prepped by using recommended or prescribed products, which is important for even peeling and consistent results.

Downtime: depends on individual factors and the number of layers applied. It is common to experience mild redness in the first two days, followed by skin dryness and darkening. Peeling usually occurs between day 3-7.

When to re-peel:

  • Superficial peels are best performed in consecutive sessions to achieve optimum results;

  • The number of peels depends on the type and strength of the peeling agent being used, the skin condition being treated and individual factors;

  • Superficial peels can be performed every 2 to 4 weeks.
